What We Hold True

Our faith and all we do are founded on Jesus Christ. Our Statement of Faith outlines the essential Biblical truths that unite us as a church family, and by God’s grace, we strive to embody our Core Values in all we do and hold true.

Salvation
by Grace through Faith

We believe that salvation into Christ occurs by grace through faith. Scripture teaches that one who desires to be saved must sincerely believe from their heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, raised from the dead after suffering for the redemption of sins; and that this belief leads them to repentance of sin and confession that Jesus is LORD. Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD in this way will be saved – not by their own works but by belief in the finished work of Jesus on their behalf.

Statement of Faith at Agape Church

At Agape Church, we have chosen a statement of Faith (adapted from the Nicene Creed) that the members of our church will coalesce around as a foundation for theological unity. We do not present this statement as a litmus test for salvation nor as a requirement for those who attend Agape or participate in community activities. But we do expect agreement on these essentials in order to be recognized as a member of Agape Church.

God the Father

We affirm there is one God, the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth of all that is seen and unseen.

Jesus Christ

We affirm Jesus Christ as Lord. He has a unique relationship to God the Father as His only Son, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God. He is distinct but not separate from the Father. He is begotten, not made. Jesus is one with the Father and through Him all things were made.

We affirm He came down from Heaven and by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate by a virgin birth, and was made man.

We affirm that for our redemption He was crucified, He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again. After appearing to the disciples for many days, He ascended into Heaven and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

The Holy Spirit

We affirm the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

The Church

We affirm the church exists as both the local expression and whole body of Christ, with Jesus as the head.

Baptism

We affirm baptism as the believer’s personal proclamation of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins.

The Second Coming of Christ

We affirm the coming return of Jesus in glory and the resurrection of the dead. Jesus will judge the living and the dead and His Kingdom will have no end.

This video offers an overview of our Statement of Faith, providing clarity on each affirmation that unites us as members of Agape Church.

Core Values of Agape Church

are rooted in the centrality of Jesus Christ and the truth of His Gospel. All we do flows from and points back to this core truth as we strive to celebrate and live out the Gospel in every aspect of our lives and ministry.

The Great Commandments

We value adherence to the Great Commandments found in Matthew 22:36-40 and John 13:34 in their proper order.

Scripture

We value belief in the authority, power, and inerrancy of the Bible as God’s written word for men and women to teach, correct, and train all believers in righteousness and good works.

Spiritual Gifts

We value each believer desiring and using their spiritual gifts to make Jesus Christ known. This is done through ministry to one another, evangelism to the lost in our community (and beyond as God allows), and discipleship of all in our midst.
