To experience a new life one has to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Imagine standing on one side of a river gorge and God standing on the other. There is a huge gap between you and Him. On your side there is nothing but loneliness, guilt, confusion, and emptiness. On God’s side you see hope, freedom, forgiveness, and purpose. You need a bridge to get to God, but being a good person will not build a bridge long enough to reach Him. The bridges of “joining a church” or “reading the entire Bible” or “doing good deeds” are all to short to reach God. What can you do? Fortunately, you don’t have to do anything. When Jesus died on the cross and came back to life, He built the bridge for you. 1st Peter 3:18 says, “Christ also suffered when he died for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit” (NLT).
If you are not on God’s side, is there any good reason why you cannot receive Jesus Christ right now?
God is ready and waiting for you with open arms. According to the Bible,
receiving Christ begins with
Admitting
your need (“I am a sinner”).
Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God...
You must
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. John 3:36 - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but
whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains
on him.
You need to
Confess your sins
to God and repent (turn away) from those sins.
Acts 3:19 - Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,…
Then, through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control you through the Holy Spirit (receive Him as Savior and Lord). John 1:12 - Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…
You may be asking yourself, 'Ok what's next'? If you just received Christ as your Savior it is vitally important that you tell someone. The decision you have made has set you on a journey that will last the rest of your life and into eternity. God doesn't intend for you to make that journey alone. We would love to hear from you at Agape. We invite you to contact one of our ministers, or even better, come to worship with us and share with us the new life you found.
